In the second quarter of 2022, the top 5 iOS navigation and maps apps in South Africa showed varied performance trends in downloads and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.

Google Maps saw its weekly downloads fluctuate, starting at 8.8K at the end of March and peaking at nearly 11K in late April. By the end of June, downloads leveled out around 6.9K. The app maintained a robust number of weekly active users, starting at over 702K and ending the quarter at approximately 692K.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic experienced a steady trend in weekly downloads, ranging between 2.4K and 3.1K throughout the quarter. The app’s weekly active users consistently hovered around the 180K mark, showing slight increases towards the end of June, reaching approximately 186K.
